Trimline Instructions

FOR INWARD OPENING DOORS FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS 1-10.

FOR OUTWARD OPENING DOORS DISREGARD INSTRUCTION 7.

  1. Before removing the door from its hinges, with the door closed and working on the inside, measure 28mm from the floor, all along the length of the doors, noting any variations due to uneven floor etc, and mark this measurement on the inside of the door, with a sharp pencil or marking tool, using a suitable straight edge.

  2. Remove the door from its hinges and saw along the mark, square to the door face, so that the space created between the bottom of the door and the floor (gap G) is 28mm all along its length.

  3. Rehang the door and check accuracy of the spacing dimension.

  4. Cut the floor piece to the exact width of the door frame (i.e. fractionally longer than the door width).

  5. Place the floor piece in position with the drain holes facing outside, and the front of the floor piece tucked behind and abutting up to the door stops of the doorframe. Drill and plug the floor in line with the countersunk holes in the floor piece. Fasten to the floor with two of the screws but without Admastik at this stage.

  6. The door piece of Trimline can now be fixed into position without further removal of the door. If the door piece needs to be cut to the door width, remove and retain the pin securing the rear draught strip in the door piece of Trimline, remove the draught strip 'E', and remove the brush strip 'D' before cutting. Cut the door piece to the width of the door bottom.

  7. To allow sufficient clearance between the doorstops and the top section of Trimline, the curved rain deflector part only must now be trimmed. To trim the top section to size, measure the distance between the door stops, cut the curved section of the Trimline top piece to this length, subtracting an extra 1mm from the end nearest the hinge side of the door and 3mm from the end nearest the catch side of the door. When cut, hold the top piece in the correct position on the base of the door and check that the door will open and shut freely without fouling the doorstops.

  8. Apply Admastik to sealing channels 'A' and fix the top piece of Trimline to the bottom of the door, using the line of front fixing holes at 'H1' and the countersunk screws provided. Alternatively, (or in addition if secondary fixing is required) the top piece of Trimline can be fixed from beneath, by removing the door, applying Admastik at 'A' and fixing the top piece at position by using screws. Note that in addition to the holes provided in the underside of the top piece, an extra three holes must be drilled to act as ventilation holes for any condensation build-up.

  9. If necessary, cut the draught strips 'D' and 'E' to length. Note that the brush strip should be cut using pliers to endure that the metal brush housing is crimped at the end. This is to prevent the brushes from falling out. Replace the draught strips in the top piece of Trimline, ensuring that the brush strip is placed in the front (outside) groove. With the brush strip in its groove, and using pliers, crimp the end of the groove just enough to retain the brush strip, and replace the pin that secures the rubber strip, at the opening end/latch side of the door. Ensure that the pin is firmly secured, using a hammer if necessary.

  10. Remove the floor piece of Trimline and apply Admastik liberally to the sealing channel 'B' as well as to the ends of the floor piece. Fix the floor piece in position.

IMPORTANT

  1. Admastik must not be applied to the curved part of the top piece of Trimline where it meets the underside of the door as this will prevent any moisture which may be present at this point from escaping out into the floor piece, eventually causing rotting of the door.

  2. You will notice that a brass/steel pin has been inserted into the carrying groove for the rubber. This is intended to hold the rubber in place to prevent movement of the rubber in the carrying groove during use. Please remove the pin when removing the rubber, during the fitting of Trimline, or the replacing of rubbers etc, and replace in groove afterwards. The pin should be positioned in the groove, at the opening end of the door.

  3. If you discover after step number three that you have cut the door too short, or there is already a gap greater than 28mm between the door and the floor, the door piece of Trimline has been designed to enable it to be lowered by up to 10mm. In such an event it cannot be secured by screwing under the door.
