FITTING INSTRUCTIONS

Please read fitting instructions carefully before attempting to fix your Stormguard Sill.

1

If necessary cut the Stormguard to the correct length i.e. the exact width of the door frame opening. This will normally be a fraction wider than the door itself.

Place the back edge of the Stormguard against the inside face of the door when in its closed position, and mark along its length with as sharp pencil of marking tool.

2

Remove the door from its hinges and saw along the line parallel to the mark and 5mm above it to allow 5mm clearance between the door bottom and the rear upstand of the Stormguard sill.

Smooth down sawn surface with sandpaper.

(NB If surface is painted the paint must dry completely before closing the door on the sill.)

3

Chisel out sufficient from the bottom of the frame on both sides to receive the front of the Stormguard, shaping the cut to the profile of the front of the sill.

4

Rehang the door and place Stormguard in position. Ensure that the door opens and closes freely and that the front face of the door butts up to the front inside edge of the Stormguard all along its length.

Mark through centre fixing hole for pre-drilling the threshold. If the threshold is not of wood this hole will have to be plugged to accept the screw.

The Stormguard sill is now ready for permanently fixing into place. Take a tube of ADMASTIK and fill the grooved channel(s) located along the underside of the Stormguard. Ensure that the threshold surface is perfectly dry and apply the ADMASTIK.

The ADMASTIK must be applied to both surfaces, i.e. to the Stormguard mastic channel(s) and to the floor surface all along their lengths, also apply ADMASTIK to the end pieces and place them in the two ends of the Stormguard water channel.

5

Bed Stormguard firmly into place and close door to recheck for exact positioning. Screw down the centre fixing screw (if present). Apply extra ADMASTIK to the outside faces of the end fixing pieces and secure the door frame with the screws provided using a slight downward pressure.

There must be a watertight seal where the ends of the Stormguard meet the door frame.

TOOLS REQUIRED

Pencil, small hacksaw, screwdriver, wood saw, wood chisel, drill, tube of Admastik.

IMPORTANT

Correct fitting will result in the back edge of the Stormguard protruding slightly beyond the inside face of the door.

ADMASTIK

This special sealant acts as a secondary fixing agent to ensure that the sill adheres not harden must not be used. Stormguard ADMASTIK is petroleum based. We neither expect nor guarantee our sills to work if this mastic is not used.
